Malayalam-language drama directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan, following the life of a young revolutionary in the southern Indian state of Kerala.
The story of Kunjunni (Vishwanathan)'s life in many ways reflects and represents the story of Kerala as a whole. With little input from his parents, Kunjunni falls under the influence of an uncle (Narendra Prasad) who was formerly a disciple of Ghandi but now considers himself a Marxist.
Drawn increasingly towards socialism, Kunjunni eventually participates in violent resistance and is thrown in jail. Upon his release, he attempts to rebuild by starting a family while striving to reconcile his dreams with the reality around him. Will he succeed?
