BBC 100 best World Cinema Films

The BBC's much-discussed recent poll of the 100 best foreign-language films included 67 different directors, from 24 countries, and in 19 languages, with 13 films from the 21st Century.

While the term 'foreign language' is a loaded one in a country with several 'native' languages besides English and a multitude of absorbed ones, the BBC did adopt an international focus in the voting, the 209 critics who took part hailing from 43 different countries and speaking a total of 41 languages
