Details

Richard Lester's late 1960s cult comedy, set during the aftermath of a nuclear explosion which ended WWIII, follows those who have survived in what is left of England enduring spontaneous mutations into various creatures and objects.

The film is based on the play written by Spike Milligan and John Antrobus and stars some of Britain's best known comedians, including Peter Cook, Dudley Moore and the aforementioned Milligan.

"...acerbic and slapstick and quintessentially British." Roger Ebert.

BFI Flipside is dedicated to rediscovering the margins of British film, reclaiming a space for forgotten movies and filmmakers who would otherwise be in danger of disappearing from our screens forever. It is a home for UK cinematic oddities, offering everything from exploitation documentaries to B-movies, countercultural curios and obscure classics, If it's weird, British and forgotten, then it's Flipside.
