Celebrate the history of the rainbow flag with this informative greetings card, which charts the early development of the iconic symbol of pride in the 1970s.
Text on the reverse reads:
"The original flag contained eight stripes. The 1978 assassination of activist Harvey Milk resulted in a surge of demand to commemorate him. The hot pink fabric was hard to source, and so was removed. In 1979, to evenly split and decorate two sides of the San Francisco parade route, the turquoise was dropped - resulting in the six stripe rainbow flag used today."
