Monsters have always been a part of us, in the stories we tell ourselves, our collective imagination and our shared nightmares. Horror films make those monsters real. Since the inception of cinema, horror has been the most radical and innovative genre.
In Dreams are Monsters was a major season of horror films at the BFI, focussing on the creatures that linger long after the closing credits, which have haunted our screens and dreams for over a century. Exploring 5 iconic mythical figures: the vampire, the ghost, the zombie, the witch and the beast; the season charts how the monsters of horror have made physical the anxieties of their times, and how we react when faced with the monster within.
To celebrate the season, we created this creepy collector's item- the In Dreams are Monsters enamel badge, a high quality enamel pin featuring the season logo type in siver on a dark purple-black background.
The badge measures 35mm across with a double metal butterfly clasp fastening on the back and comes with card backing.
