Details

1960s British sci-fi comedy based on the writings of Jules Verne.

Fleeing his creditors back home, American showman Phineas T. Barnum (Burl Ives) sets up shop in England in 1875, and sets about persuading a syndicate of Brits to fund a rocket ship to the moon.

The group set about constructing their rocket with the intention of blasting it into orbit from a gigantic cannon, but the interference of foreign spies and saboteurs ensures that the ambitious project is doomed before it has even begun.
