French crime drama co-written and directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot.

A wave of hysteria sweeps the small provincial town of St Robin when a series of poison-pen letters signed 'Le Corbeau' appear denouncing several prominent members of the community. Starting with the village doctor, the slow trickle of letters soon becomes a flood and no one is safe from the malicious accusations.

Beneath the town's respectable surface seemingly lurks a darker side, and soon everyone is a suspect. With the townspeople afraid to accuse each other for fear of being accused themselves, suspicion and hatred soon reach dangerous levels...
