Details

This beautiful hardback book catalogues some of the mostmemorable movie posters ever produced - some because of the originality of their design, others because of their marketing success. It explores extensivethe golden age of Hollywood in the 30s and 40s; through the widescreen craze of the 1950s to the rise of European cinema and other national movements in Asia and beyond which would introduce new ideas to the language of film advertising. An essential for any fan of movie artwork.

For nearly 30 years Richard Dacre owned and ran much-loved film memorabilia shop Flashbacks in Soho, London. During that time, he traded in posters from the silent era to the present day, sourced from all over the world. Prior to that, Richard was the manager of the legendary London repertory cinema, the Scala, and throughout his career has written, lectured and broadcast extensively on film. He is an Associate Research Fellow at the Cinema and Television Research Institute, Leicester.
