The Ambassador of the small South American country of Miranda is engaged in covert drug trafficking with some bourgeois French friends of his. Every time they attempt to dine together, their plans are disrupted by unexpected events. In their pursuit of a lavish feast, the dividing line between reality and dreams starts to blur, leading to surreal farce.

Considered one of his most accomplished and significant films by critics and audiences alike, The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie received the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and a nomination for Best Original Screenplay on release.
