Featuring the pattern which adorned the original National Film Theatre screen shutters, this heavyweight premium tote bag is screen printed in metallic gold
The National Film Theatre (NFT) was designed in 1957 by Norman Engleback and constructed in just 15 months. This tote bag features the pattern which adorned the screen shutter in the original NFT 1 auditorium. At the start of a screening, the shutter would retract to reveal the screen. It provided a distinctive backdrop to interviews with a stellar line-up of cinematic greats over the years, from Akira Kurosawa to Alfred Hitchcock (pictured)
The design, which became a much-loved feature of the NFT, also featured on the fourth London Film Festival brochure in 1960.
This premium 100% heavyweight cotton gusseted tote bag is beautifully screen printed in metallic gold on black.
The metallic print will develop a nice burnished finish over time through wear.
