The Seven Year Itch Poster (Polish A1)

Maciej Hibner was born Maciej Hübner in 1930 in Warsaw, where he lives today.Hübner (Hibner) is one of Poland’s best known and well respected graphic designers and posters creators. He is credited with being one of the key figures of the Polish School of Posters and has designed some of the most iconic and sought after posters from this art movement. Maciej Hübner (Hibner) is an internationally acclaimed graphic artist whose work has been shown around the world at exhibitions in London, Paris, Vienna, Rome and Delhi (1954) and won numerous awards.

He designed this rare vintage poster in 1961 for the 1955 American romantic comedy film, The Seven Year Itch, directed by Billy Wilder and starring the ultimate Hollywood icon, Marilyn Monroe.

This is an official limited edition 2021 reprint (c.500), which was printed in Poland with permission from the artist himself, Maciej Hubner (Hibner). Note from the printing house in Poland: “Our offset prints are made on matte paper similar to the original. We keep the poster formats from the period, we try to faithfully reproduce the colours of old prints. Small editions, limited to 500 copies, respect all copyrights belonging to the graphic artists or their heirs.”

This poster is from Projekt 26, a South London based leading dealer of vintage Polish posters from the Soviet era. They source and sell original mid-century posters and magazines from suppliers in Poland and all over the world. They partner with artists and their families to reproduce much-loved works, using printing methods and paper that are true to the original editions.
